Malatya Pazarı
📜 A Heritage Woven in History: From Malatya to the Spice Bazaar
The delicious story of Malatya Pazarı began 155 years ago, when Ali Efendi
founded a modest shop in his hometown of Malatya. His sons, Hüseyin and Hakkı, inherited the trade
from their father and continued the profession with passion and dedication.
The destiny of Malatya Pazarı dried nuts changed forever in 1942, when Malatya Deputy
Tevfik Temelli asked a single visionary question:
“Why don’t you go to Istanbul and promote the honey, dried nuts, and apricots of Malatya?”
This question became a turning point, opening a brand-new door in their lives and marking
the first step on the road to success. Inspired, Hüseyin and Hakkı came to Istanbul, where they were
captivated by the historic Spice Bazaar (Mısır Çarşısı), which was being restored
at the time by the Governor of Istanbul, Lütfi Kırdar. They opened a shop there and
began introducing the natural abundance of Malatya to the heart of the metropolis.
After working together for a time, Hakkı Bey returned to Malatya and started a new
journey by establishing a halva and biscuit factory, pursuing a different path.
Hüseyin Bey settled in Istanbul with his family, ready to write the next chapter.
His sons, Çetin and Metin, continued their education while also working in the shop
at the Spice Bazaar. This early experience gave them a strong sense of responsibility and deepened
their passion for the world of flavors, laying the foundation for the Malatya Pazarı
we know and love today.
