The story of Güllü baklava begins in the early 1800s, with a visionary craftsman known as “Güllü Çelebi” – Hacı Mehmed Güllü of Gaziantep. Driven by an passion for confectionery, he embarked on a remarkable journey of culinary mastery. Seeking to elevate his craft, he traveled to the most renowned confectionery regions of Halep and Damascus, spending six months meticulously studying the intricate art of baklava-making.
Upon returning to Gaziantep, Güllü Çelebi established his first baklava workshop, laying the foundation for what would become a legendary family tradition. After his passing, his son Hacı Mahmud Güllü continued the family legacy, carefully rolling out delicate phyllo sheets by hand and creating baklava using traditional techniques passed down through generations.
