Galata Tower, which was first built by the Byzantines in 528 as a lighthouse tower, is considered as one of the oldest towers in the world. The tower, which was heavily damaged during the 4th Crusade in 1204, was rebuilt by the Genoese who ruled the region in 1348 under the name of “The Tower of Jesus”. The tower, which was dismantled on the top of the tower in the late 19th century, took its final form with the restoration in 1965
